The Bab Mansour gate opens up to Place Hedim, a small square in the heart of the old medina in Meknes. While it’s far more compact and less vibrant than Marrakech’s famous Jemaa el-Fna, you’ll still find a few vendors, snake charmers, and entertainers here.
I wouldn’t recommend visiting the square as a destination on its own, but it’s an essential spot to pass through if you’re heading to some of Meknes’ top attractions. It’s a nice place to take a break, enjoy a coffee at one of the cafes lining the square, or try some delicious Moroccan food. On the opposite side of the square, you’ll find the Dar Jamai Museum, which houses a collection of fascinating music-related exhibits.
